Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's natural for doubts to be raised about his future following another heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in twelve matches, marking the club's worst streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received a lot of backing from the top,” Slot stated.

“It's important to change things and get a victory naturally but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it's typical that people question you.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don’t call me every single minute each day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal conversations we have I perceive the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them since this match yet so we'll see.”

Familiar Problems and Player Response

Slot highlighted familiar shortcomings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, specifically missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a phase like this with outcomes so bad.”

Jones stated, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And until it is removed, we will always fight.”

“We’re going to try to get this team back to its rightful place, show everyone once more what this club is about and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
