Alpine star Lindsey Vonn asserts she will be "in a good place" for the upcoming Winter Olympics, following securing a top-three finish for the fourth instance in her last five World Cup events. The veteran athlete, who last week set a record by becoming the most senior racer to win a downhill World Cup winner, took the bronze position in the super-G in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This was her 142nd career World Cup podium finish. Strong Return in Val d'Isere Racing in the iconic venue for the first occasion in almost a decade, Vonn crossed the line in a time of one minute 20.60 seconds. She was 0.36 seconds behind victor Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson securing second place. "I didn't quite have the right line on the first jump," Vonn remarked. "From that point on, I performed strongly. I'm happy with my run today, unlike in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was overly cautious." This result was her second top-three finish at Val d'Isere over the weekend, having also taken third in the downhill on Saturday. An Incredible Return from Injury Vonn stepped away from competition in February 2019 because of ongoing knee problems. However, she staged a competitive comeback in late 2024 following a significant orthopedic procedure. With 47 days remaining until the 2026 Winter Games, which are scheduled for February 6th to the 22nd, Vonn's performances are highly promising. She has an Olympic gold and two Olympic bronze medals in her collection and is firmly on track to represent the United States at the next Olympics. "At the Olympics, I will be fully ready," Vonn affirmed. Chasing More Titles In addition to her Olympic ambitions, Vonn is also aiming to increase the four overall crystal globes she has won over a professional journey spanning two decades. She presently enjoys a 69-point lead at the top of the downhill World Cup rankings and is sitting in fifth place in the overall super-G standings. This season's World Cup circuit features a nine more events taking place before the circuit finale in Kvitfjell, Norway on 21 March 2026.
